About Us
The Pankajakasthuri College of Engineering and Technology (PKCET) located 18 km South – East of Trivandrum Central Railway Station and Central Bus-Station, has been promoted by the Pankajakasthuri Herbal Research Foundation which has obtained deep roots in the Society and reputation World-over, and which is registered under the Travancore – Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Act XII of 1955 (Reg.No. T 620 dt 31.01.2001 of District Registrar, Thiruvananthapuram). This nascent Co- educational Engineering College is administrated by its Founder Chairman Shri. J. Mahendran Nair, who has already proven his commitment to the Society, and administrative capability by bringing up the first self –financing Ayurvedic Medical College in this State 7 years ago, and establishing another 10 sister institutions. The PKCET campus is spread over 12 acres of land in the serene and lush green village of Maranalloor at Kandala, Trivandrum – 695 512, by the side of the Kattakkada – Balaramapuram/Neyyattinkara State Highway. This is a Wi-Fi enabled Campus. The College is approved by A.I.C.T.E. vide order No. F. 06/06/KER/ ENGG/ 2009-10/015 dt. 23.06.2009 and is sanctioned by Kerala Govt. vide G.O. (Ms) No.84/09/H. Edn. dt.06.07.2009. It is affiliated to University of Kerala vide order No : Ac/B /01/044815/2008 dt.31.07.2009.

Principal's Profile
Prof. B. Somanathan Nair (born on 01-09-1950) is currently working as the Principal of the Pankajakasthuri College of Engineering and Technology, Kandala, Thiruvananthapuram. He is also a Visiting Professor with the Department of Optoelectronics, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.
Formerly, he was the Joint Director of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, and the Principal of various Government Engineering Colleges in Kerala. He was also a member of the faculty of the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Idaho, Moscow, USA.
Prof. Nair was a Member of the Syndicate, the Senate, and the Academic Council of the MG University, Kottayam and was the first Controller of Examinations of Kannur University
He was a research collaborator with the Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kayamkulam, for the development of ELECTRONIC PEST DETECTION methods. He is currently the Co-investigator of the project on APPLICATIONS OF THIN-FILM COIR FIBERS IN ELECTRONIC INDUSTRY, a research work sponsored by the Central Coir Board and undertaken by the Central Coir Research Institute, Alappuzha and M.G. University, Kottayam. He has published 4 papers on electronic pest detection methods.
He was a reviewer of the International Conference on Mobile Telephones-2009 at St. Petersberg, Russia. He was also a reviewer of the International Conference on Simulation and Modeling, MS 2009 at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
He is the author of 19 textbooks in Electronics and related areas brought out by Publishers like John Wiley and Prentice-Hall.
